National emblem
The national emblem of Ceylon shows a lion in the centre which is holding a sword in its right fore paw which was derived from the emblem of the kingdom of Kandy. The lion is surrounded by lotus or lily pedals. On top the Ceylon crown sits. Below is a banner with the name of the dominion in three languages: "இலங்கை" (Tamil), ලංකා (Sinhala), CEYLON (English).
