National identification and other marks
Coat of arms
The national coat of arms of Lithuania consists of an armoured knight riding a prancing horse. The knight is also known as Vitys. In his right hand he holds a sword and on his left arm a shield with a double cross is held.
Other marks
Columns of Gediminas or Pillars of GediminidsThis appears to be a decoration on the coin. The columns or pillars are a symbol which date to the beginning of Lithuania. Gediminas was a Grand Duke of Lithuania in the 14th century. These columns are supposedly his mark and can be seen on many Lithuanian coins onward, isolated or as a part of a coat of arms.
