Coat of Arms
The coat of arms of Mexico shows a Mexican eagle devouring a snake, a symbol of the victory of the good over evil. The eagle sits on top of cactus (prickly pear), a symbol of Mexico. The cactus grows on an island arising from a lake, a reference to Mexico City. The scene is supported by a oak leaves (symbol of strength and endurance) on the left and laurel leaves (symbol of victory and succes) on the right. The branches are tied together by a ribbon in the colours of the Mexican flag.
