Reginal George James Berry
BiographyBerry was born in London (GBR) where he worked as an insurrance clekr. In 1925 he emigrated to New Zealand. In Wellintgon (NZL) he took a job in commercial advertising for Goldberg Advertising Agency, but became an independent artist in 1932. As an artist he designed book covers, coins, stamps and medals. In 1933 he joined the New Zealand Numismatic Society. When New Zealand was at the verge of introducing decimal coinage, he was asked to produce a design in 1964. He made four and one of them was choosen as the winning design. For that accomplishment he was appointed as an Officer in the Order of the British Empire. In 1979 he died in Auckland (NZL) after persuing his interest of painting in England and Ireland.
