Coat of Arms of Botswana
The coat of arms of Botswana consists of a typical west-African shield. On the shield 3 wheels represent the industry, waves which represent water or rain (the nation's motto) and a bull's head representing the importance of cattle. Alongside the shield ivory, symbolic for the ivory trade, and sorghum, an important crop in Botswana, are held by two zebras. The latter are not represented on coins. Underneath the display a banner says the nation's motto: "PULA" (In English: "rain".)
