Coat of Arms

The coat of arms of Brazil used from 1822-1840 shows an escutcheon decorated with an armil over the cross of the Order of Christ. A band surrounding the armil shows 19 stars. A diamond decorated imperial crown supersedes the whole. The escutcheon is flanked by a coffee and a tobacco twig, both bound together by a ribbon at the bottom with a bow-knot.
