Emblem of Brunei

The emblem of Brunei consists of a crescent (Islamic symbol) with the Arabic text: "الدائمون المحسنون بالهدى", the national motto. It means: "Always in service with God's guidance". Below the crescent a banner shows the name of the country in Arabic: "بروني دارالسلام". It means "Brunei Darussalam", which translates to "Brunei, the Abode of Peace". On top op the crescent stands a mast with wings, an umbrella and a flag. The mast stands for a just and stable government, the wings represent peace and justice, the umbrella and flag represent the Royal Family. On each side two upwards open hands symbolize the duty of the government to protect the people.
