Coat of Arms
The coat of arms of the Dominican Republic consists of a shield sided by laurel leaf to the left and a palm branc to the right. The shield itself shows the national flag behind 6 spears with banners, a Holy Bible and a golden cross representing the importance of Christian religion. Above the shield a banner says "DIOS PATRIA LIBERTAD" ("God, Fatherland, Liberty in English".) Underneath the shield another banner is shown with the name of the state in Spanish.
