Percy Metcalfe
BiographyMetcalfe was an artist and sculptor. In 1914 he attended the Royal College of Artin London (GBR). He is credited for the design of the first coinage of the Irish Free State in 1928 (the barnyard set), the depiction of King George VI on the George Cross in 1940 and was involved in the design of the Great Seal of the Realm. He also designed the war memorial in Durban (RSA). Outside the UK he designed a lot of coins for other countries of the Commonwealth.
