The emblem of North Korea shows a radiating five-pointed star (symbol of communism) above the Paektu Mountain and the Sup'ung Dam. The whole is flanked by ears of rice. On the bottom is a banner with the text "조선민주주의인민공화국의 국" in Chosongul characters, which means: The Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
