Coat of arms of Samoa
The national coat of arms of Samoa consists of an escutcheon divided in two sections. The upper section (about one third) is decorated with waves of the sea and a coconut palm. The lower pard (about two third) is decorated with 5 stars forming the constellation of the Southern Cross. Around the escutcheon the two circles symbolize the world and 2 olive branches refer to the emblem of the United Nations. On top a cross is placed. Below a banner shows the nation's motto: "FA'VAE I LE ATUA SAMOA", which means 'Samoa is founded on God' in Samoan.
