Coat of arms
The national coat of arms of Singapore consists of a shield held by two supporters above a ribbon. On the shield a crescent moon represents the upcoming of a new nation and the 5 stars representing national ideas. The supporters are a lion, for Singapore, and a tiger, for Malaysia. The ribbon says: "MAJULAH SINGAPURA", which is Malay for "Onward Singapore".
