National emblem
The national emblem of Sri Lanka shows a lion in the centre which is holding a sword in its right fore paw. The lion is surrounded by lotus pedals. The whole is placed on top of a grain vase from which rice ears sprout. The Dharmacakra is placed on top. The emblem is supported by the sun and moon, important symbols of the Sinhalese people.
