Coat of Arms
The coat of arms of Guatemala consists of a scroll with the text: "LIBERTAD 15 DE SEPTEMBRE DE 1821" symbolizing the liberation from Spain. The scroll fronts two crossed rifles (Remington) symbolizing defense and two crossed swords symbolizing honour. On top of the scroll sits a Quetzal a sign of liberty. The whole is surrounded by a wreath of laurel.
