Coat of Arms of Siam
The coat of arms of Thailand holds a central escutcheon, which is divided in three segements. The central segment shows a three-headed elephant (Airavata). The three heads symbolize the three regions (north, south, central) of Thailand. The elephant at the bottom represents Laos. On the other side two crossed krises symbolize Malaysia. Both Laos and Malaysia were under suzerainty of Siam. A Chakra (disc) and Trisula (trident) above the shield represent the Chakri Dynasty of Thailand. Around the escutcheon there is a chain of the Buddhistic Order of the Nine Gems. The chain holds another chain and a pendant (with the image of King Rama V) of the Order of Chula Chom Klao. The Great Crown of Victory supercedes the shield. Two mythological lions (Gajasiha and Rajasiha) are the supporters holding a seven tiered umbrella of State. Behind the shield the Sword of Victory, the Royal Staff, the Royal Fan and Royal Fly Whisk cross. Below are the Royal Slippers. The mantle is the cloak of the Order of Chula Chom Klao tied together with ribbons. The banner below says: "สพฺเพสํ สงฺฆภูตานํ สามคฺคี วุฑฺฒิ สาธิกา" meaning 'Unity Brings Happiness'.
