National Coat of Arms
The national coat of arms of Serbia consists of a central crowned escutcheon decorated with a two-headed eagle. The eagle is superpimposed by another escutcheon on its chest. This inescutcheon is decorated with a central cross (Serbian cross) with 4 firesteels (tool for firemaking) on each field. The tail of the eagle is flanked by two fleurs-de-lys. The crowned escutcheon is surrounded by a crowned mantle with ermine, ropes and fringes.
The coat of arms the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, also known as the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (1993-2006), consists of a double-headed eagle, wings spread and talons wide, wearing an escutcheon decorated with four segments. The upper left and lower right shows the Serbian cross with fire steels (representing Serbia), while the upper right and lower left show a lion walking to the left (representing Montenegro).
